Post WTB 1940s Martin Committee

I am looking to purchase a 1940's era Martin Committee trumpet. It needs to be in relatively good condition, no red rot, non-OEM repairs/replacements. I am willing to spend up to $2000 for the right horn in the right condition. Thanks!

Hi there Dave, and welcome to the BrassMusician.com forums!

I'll be sure to keep an eye out in case a 40's Committee comes along.

I see you have a couple of Old's horns in your arsenal. How would you describe the difference between the recording and the opera model?

How picky you are about the dating? Here is a '50's model for sale at TH

As I am returning back to playing after 20+ yrs off, please excuse my rustiness as it relates to horn blowing. But, I'll give it my best shot. I play the Recording infinitely more than the Opera. We just seem to "click" with one another. I love the slightly dark warm tones it gives me. It seems to blow very open, and I am noticing at my present age that this robs me of endurance I had back in my 20's. But, after just a few months the endurance is noticably improving. It was more my being out of shape than the horn blowing too open. The opera (silver) has a brighter sound which I don't especially care for. I really seem to gravitate towards dark smoky tones, even more than the Recording offers me, which is why I would like to have a Martin Committee. But, the Opera does slot very well for me even above the staff, maybe even better than the Recording.
