The English Brass Academy Summer School will provide a unique and exceptional music course of the highest quality for brass players aged 8-18 who are of Grade 2 to Grade 8 standard and beyond, giving them access to teaching of an unparalleled standard in a superb musical environment.

High quality, and fun

It aims to provide children with the very best musical experience and teaching possible while at the same time ensuring they have a lot of fun! There will be specialist teaching and coaching from the very best in the music profession: the course will be varied, and above all, enjoyable.

Each day there will be solo work, small and large ensembles, masterclasses and competitions, and each afternoon there will be two hours of organised sport, activities and team competitions before heading inside again for more music. At the end of the course there will be a concert, which friends and family are very welcome to attend.

Programme and activities

We are hoping that most children will attend the course on a residential basis so that they really get the most out of the whole experience, and have the opportunity to relax and play with children their own age who by the end of the course will no doubt have become their good friends. But day participants are welcome too if that suits your child or pupil better.

There will be an exciting and varied programme of events each evening to keep everyone entertained. Activities will include sports such as football, rounders, tennis, cricket, badminton and volleyball; and traditional boarding school games such as capture the flag, great balls of fire, slidey football, indoor and outdoor lions, sock wrestling and Colditz.

There will be less active pursuits on offer as well, such as DVDs, quizzes, karaoke and treasure hunts; and of course there will be a tuck shop. And finally there will always be a comfortable sitting room available for any students who might just want to relax after a busy day.

Do you have brass ensembles for conical bore trumpets and trombones? I play a cimbasso in F so it plays bass trombone parts. Where, and when, do you run courses for such combinations?
