As a beginner trumpet or cornet player, one of the simplest things you can do to progress is to memorize the fingerings for all of the notes.

To help you get started, here is a basic trumpet finger chart which shows all standard fingerings from low F# to high C.

This chart also applies to flugelhorn, tenor horn, and treble clef readers of baritone, euphonium and 3 valve tubas.
